Material selection for quick-release pin main components

The most cost-effective material of the ball locking pins is stainless steel 303.

· Materials

When selecting materials for quick-release pins, we typically consider their machining characteristics and the shear strength influenced by heat treatment properties.

Common materials used for the main body of quick-release pins include stainless steel grades 303, 304, 316, 17-4PH, and 440C. Among these, stainless steel 303 offers the best cost-performance ratio in terms of both cost and machining performance.

Since grades 17-4PH and 440C can be heat-treated to achieve better hardness and toughness, they are typically used in applications requiring high shear strength.
